To say that Alfold residents are flushed is an understatement. While they are literally drowning in the sewage sloop, they are yelling at the top of their voices.
“Stop the jaw, jaw and do something.”
In fairness to the majority of Waverley councillors who supported Cllr Steve Williams’s motion this week, for the first time – they are doing something. They are calling on the government and regulators to pull Thames Water into special measures and bring it back into public control. The fact that a handful of Tories believed it was going too far is immaterial. The Tory group of Waverley has sat back for years and ignored the sewage problems that have dogged parts of the borough for over a decade. Waverley’s Rainbow coalition has said,
“Enough is enough.”
