Just a reminder that Donations can be given directly to St. Clare’s church (rear entrance) on Monday’s 9:30 – 10:30am or via collection boxes at Sainsburys Burpham, Sainsburys Worplesdon Road, Sainsburys Local East Horsley or Waitrose York Road whenever stores are open. Amgela.



Its a sad sign of the times in any area in the country. More and more food banks seem to be needed.
As for Guildford, I’m amazed anyone drives there with parking at a minimum of £4 in all the car parks now – so popping in for a quick hours shop is out of the question probably for most people. Park and ride is fine if you don’t have anything heavy to carry back on the bus. Mind you, that’s unlikely as there are few decent shops left to buy anything anyway.
Yes, it is a sad sign everywhere, but particularly in suh a prosperous town as Guildford where a decent shoppig excursion and stopping for a coffee can cost a small fortune in parking charges. Here at the WW + we are told that most shoppers are moving towards Horsham that has a John Lewis store with free parking. Sad for Guildford though!
It is difficult to reconcile the UK’s obesity crisis with the need for food banks. It would be helpful to understand why budgets don’t allow food self sufficiency perhaps government aid is not going to where it is needed most? Whilst tinned tomatoes and noodles are part of a healthy diet dried flavoured noodles do not appear healthy food option.
