Village champion urges Alfold to turn up and be counted.

Apparently, villagers are heeding Denise’s call – there is a protest going on in Alfold as we type. Well done, Alfold!

Denise Wordsworth has called on the people of Alfold to show up in their droves at the Alfold Church Hall for a consultation on another shedload of Thakeham Homes.

The Thakeham Thugs get set to take another bite out of Alfold.

The wolves circle to take another chunk out of Alfold’s countryside.
Today, Tuesday, and tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th April, Thakeham Homes will unveil its master plan for an additional 350 houses (105 affordable and 245 market houses)  on land owned by Care Ashore at  Springbok, in Loxwood Road.
The teeny weeny St. Nicholas’ Church room has been chosen for the unveiling event, which will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Said Denise:

Here’s Hoping that the Villagers of Alfold – will stand up and be counted at this ridiculous Public Consultation PR exercise so Thakeham can tick the box to say they TRIED to engage with a Village that has been inundated with Planning Applications for the last few years….

That is basically all it is….. in our Tiny Church  Hall with limited parking. (NOT THE VILLAGE HALL) with masses of parking!

There will be so many who cannot walk the distance and cannot attend – What a Joke – You would be hard-pressed to come up with a better idea as to HOW  NOT TO ENGAGE with a Village.

GOOD LUCK THAKEHAM – We are watching YOU

You can read about the last public inquiry here. A spokesman for the developer told the Inspector.

Alfold is a village where everyone can cycle safely to Rudgwick and Cranleigh, Is close to the railway stations in Billingshurst, Witley and Milford. A village with good bus links, shops, pubs, and other amenities and residents in easy reach and can walk safely to shops.

  1. If you attend ensure you don’t fill in their consultation survey. It will be a pretext to twist the resident survey data to show support for ‘affordable’ housing and by implication for their wider development.

  2. It’s quite simple. Thakeham have already been told NO! The Alfold Neighbourhood plan states NO! The residents say NO!

  3. Be careful it will just be Thakeham PR charm- much more important to respond to the developers application at WBC and the ‘as predicted’ appeal that will go to the Inspector at 2 marsham st SW1. Plus remember to extend your democratic view when you can & write your concerns to your local mp… they apparently *should work for you!!!
