There are so many developments plans for Alfold it’s beginning to look like spaghetti junction.

Said  Alfold Mole Denise Wordsworth:

“There are so many applications in Alfold – it looks like Spaghetti Junction.  I honestly do not think that  WBC GET IT – It is all good looking at the planning applications – but unless you can VISUALISE what is actually Happening in Alfold no one can really get a handle on it. I do understand that many of these schemes were won on APPEAL and not through Waverley’s Planning Department who refused many of them, but (the picture above) shows there something is very wrong with the “planning system”.

Surely, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that something has gone horribly wrong here. This is a small linear village that is going to sprawl into the open countryside. As Cllr Townsend said recently, there is something fundamentally wrong with the National Policy Planning Framework  for this to happen.

Denise believes  Alfold is paying the price for the lack of Waverley’s five-year housing land supply but believes it is about time some others took some of the flack.

I still live in hope that some of these appeal decisions  should be  Judicially Reviewed, – although I doubt there is much appetite within WBC to do this when they have no 5 Year Housing Supply.

She told the Waverley Web she had taken hours, paper and ink creating the above picture in the vain hope that one day, someone would look at it and do something about it.

No one will be able to say they didn’t know. I recognise it is unlikely to change anything, but I simply cannot let this desecration of our small village go unchallenged. If your team have any contacts with the local press – Please can you send it to them too?

She said she fully understands that the war in Ukraine is the biggest issue we have at the moment, and rightly so.

Denise has asked many of our readers and followers to post this when things are looking more hopeful.

NB WW In response to some local commentators that builders locally ARE building out sites for which they have consent. THEY ARE NOT! There are numerous sites in the above diagram, where no development is taking place.  – including Wildwood Golf Club ( 2010) Brockhurst Farm, Wyevale Garden Centre,(2018)  and Sweeters Field Phase 2.
