Every time the sun comes out – the world appears to descend on poor old Frensham Ponds. One of ‘Your Waverley’s most popular and much-admired beauty spots.
The litter louts are managed, on a regular basis by the borough council staff. Who clear up their detritus. A walk on the wild-side at Frensham Little Pond.
Not forgetting more of the same old, same old parking issues, which are annoying the locals and causing road dangers.
Recently Waverley’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, updated her colleagues on the measures taken to ease the problems faced at the ponds. Cllr Liz Townsend said that unfortunately Frensham had become a victim of its own popularity. A multi agency working group was convened last summer and after consideration had implemented possible solutions to mitigate some of the issues.
Anyone attending Frensham Ponds recently may have noticed the newly installed bollards and double yellow lines ( these are being enforced by Borough Parking Enforcement Officers ).
Cllr Liz Townsend said there had been a serious incident which is reported below.
We are appealing for witnesses following a hate crime that occurred at Frensham Ponds on Monday, 14 June, at around 6.15pm.
The victim was wearing traditional Pakistani clothing and has had beer intentionally thrown over her back and her sari. The suspects are five men who left the scene shortly after the incident.
