Cranleigh could be one of the first in the country to receive the famous Pasivhaus-designed carbon-neutral leisure centres. Preparatory work is progressing well, and residents are invited to view the project today.
Cranleigh’s ‘ Gold Standard’ new leisure centre moves a step closer.

There are also drop-in sessions on the 15th and 16th of March, where you can speak with the team at Waverley, who are working hard on this.
A survey conducted between December and January received over 800 responses, which was great. However, it is essential that residents continue to engage.

Join us at the New Cranleigh Leisure Centre Drop-in Sessions today, Friday, 15 March, at Cranleigh Village Hall, 2-7 pm and Saturday, 16 March 2024, at Cranleigh Leisure Centre, 10 am-1 pm.

It would be helpful if Waverley BC advised how they can pay for it and how quickly the £30 million loan will be paid back? Due WBC taxpayers’ significant losses that incurred as a result of insufficient COVID business interruption insurance it is difficult to see how a wet leisure centre is financially sustainable and compatible with global warming. The design looks very harsh, and the anticipated winter heating and summer cooling costs are an essential design consideration to provide often forgotten climate resilience. This is a non-statutory obligation that must not compromise statutory duties, especially heathy housing provision.
Green. Except as there is no public transport for most in the catchment.
Is it big enough. Dunsfold build will put strain on everything.
Is there a planned increase in sports related services. No.
All in favour of Cranleigh having such facilities.
But where does the money come from and whom is really paying?

Crikes – I think it looks amazing! Whilst I am sure there will be distruption during the Build out, I sincerely hope that it will be something that Cranleigh will be very proud of when it is complete. About time we had something in this neck of the woods!
Wow, that thing is ugly looking and I sincerely hope Waverley didn’t pay someone to design it. Looks like a police station rather than a leisure center.
