More new homes on their way to Ewhurst?

Try, try and try again…

The owners of Sunnybrook in Ewhurst want planning consent to provide five or perhaps six new self-build homes on the approach road to the Sayers Croft Rural Centre.

The site has been the subject of numerous planning applications since 2014. The largest for 27 dwellings. All refused.

A hybrid outline application has now been lodged with Waverley’s planners – for the development of five self-build dwellings, associated landscaping and drainage infrastructure. Sunnybrook Limited want full planning permission for the access off Cranleigh Road.

The properties would be built on “open grassland.” Another application for six similar homes on the same site is also in Waverley’s pipeline.

The Site is located within the boundary of WBC and abuts the settlement boundary of Ewhurst. The surrounding development is residential with a mixture of one/two-storey houses and bungalows to the south and east of the Site, fronting Cranleigh Road.

Mature hedgerows and some mature trees surround the remainder of the Site. Thornhurst Brook lies within the mature hedgerows to the northwest.  Access is from Cranleigh Road, which follows the line of an existing public right of way (PRoW) (Route 436). This PRoW leads to the centre of the village via the recreation ground.

Most of the Site falls outside the Rural Settlement of Ewhurst. Thus, it is designated ascountryside beyond the Green Belt.  Sayers Croft, an outdoor learning centre, lies to the north. Both the Dining Hall and Kitchen within Sayers Croft are Grade II Listed.

. The Site lies in Flood Zone 1 and has a low probability of flooding.
