How very sad – are our other towns and villages suffering the loss of birds too?
According to BirdTrack, run by BTO in partnership with RSPB, BirdWatch Ireland, the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club and the Welsh Ornithological Society
“Since 1970, 12 breeding bird species have been lost from the Haslemere area. A further eight species have declined in abundance since at least 1990 when we first started measuring abundance in atlases.”

This is really interesting and useful (and depressing)information. You can look at birds in your area (by postcode), and those disappearing, declining, increasing, and colonising.
