Bridge work begins in Cranleigh- hopefully no badgers!

The bridge in Elmbridge hasn’t been all it was cracked up to be for a long time.

Cllr  Liz Townsend has been on the safety case since becoming the area’s County Councillor.

Concern has arisen over the safety of the bridge for years. HGV’s contractor vehicles have been pounding Elm Bridge daily on their way to large housing developments in the town in addition to the daily traffic.

Highway engineers took measures years ago to lighten the load by introducing one-way traffic with lights.

Bridge Repairs are coming soon – hopefully, none of these little perishers who seems to pop out regularly during works bridge works.

SCC says it doesn’t do private work, so if anyone  offers to do any, contact Surrey Trading Standards at 0808 223 1133 or visit http://www.surrey.gov.uk/stopcoldcallers

Check with your operator for service alterations during roadworks if you use buses. http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/busoperators

The council’s contractor, Ringway, will do these works on SCC’s behalf.
