Here they go again… let the diggers roll again… in Alfold.

Appeal decisions are coming through so thick and fast in Alfold that we haven’t had time to update our sticker map –  and today, another housing development is allowed.

Why? Because the Inspector recognised that the borough does not have a five-year housing land supply.

Residents may think Alfold is full, but developers have very different ideas.

Vintners, Guildford Road, Alfold, GU6 8HF.  WBC refused a bungalow outside the village envelope in the 1990s – it was Granted at appeal and now can be demolished to make way for nine more homes.

In the intervening years, the house and garages has been a working garage business maintaining and servicing local vehicles! You really couldn’t make it up!

The appeal is allowed, and planning permission is granted for the demolition of existing dwellings and garages and the erection of 9 dwellings at Vintners, Guildford Road, Alfold, Cranleigh GU6 8HF, by the terms of the application, Ref WA/2021/0463, dated 25 January 2021, and the plans submitted with it, subject to the conditions set out in the attached schedule. You can read it all in the link below.

  1. Well let’s be honest we all knew this would happen – it was just a matter of time. I feel for the residents of Brockhurst Cottages as they will have this in their back gardens. Until Waverley Pull their Finger out – there will be another 66 plus stage 3 plus stage 4 etc….from Thakeham coming soon they want 375 Homes at Care Ashore so they will get there.

I hope they put on their Website that if there is a broken down truck and ONE accident on the A3 it can take 4 plus hours to get to Alfold from SW London as it did last night when I tried to come home…. Left at 4.15pm home by 9pm
