The village dubbed by “Your Waverley” councillors… as “Poor old Cranleigh” is now reeling in the knowledge that a new crisis has hit!
As a result of investigations by the amazing Adrian Clarke of the Cranleigh Civic Society another local drama has raised its ugly head… and is all set to run..and run…
Stinkgate has been overshadowed by the latest revelation…
Yet again… The Cranleigh Society is … ahead of the game in …
Forget about the dreaded sewage contaminating your rivers and streams Cranfold folk – the latest bombshell to hit the “new town” is the possibility that its … water supply is coming through 70-year-old Asbestos cement lined pipes and residents may be at risk of asbestos fibre ingestion!
OMG… what will that poor beleaguered town face next? Still at least there will be thousands more residents to kick up a stink!
Among those who have been warned of the threat are: Sue Pennison – Drinking Water Inspectorate; MP Annie – Get your gun – Milton,) Leader of “Your Waverley” Julia – “Gone to” – Potts; Mark Matthews (Thames Water); Dr Margot Nicholls – Public Health England; Lynda Green – Health & Safety Executive; Elizabeth Bance –“Your Waverley’s Environmental Health Dept.)
Cranleigh Parish and Borough Councillors have also been informed. So, no doubt will have Liz the Biz, not that she will take too much notice her raison d’être is to get more houses built over there in “poor old Cranleigh.”
Mr Clarke has written to all the above and has attached the following preliminary report regarding non pulmonary risk of asbestos fibre ingestion, which can occur when the pipes are ruptured (now a regular occurence in and around the Cranleigh area.
Read the report for yourself here: asbestos-cement-pipes-h-s-risk-assessment-ccs-29-jan-17-2
Also attached is the basic copy of Thames Water’s asset map indicating the position of AC drinking water pipes in and around Cranleigh.
He says: “I have been advised that this has been sent to Sue Pennison – Drinking Water Inspectorate, who is investigating whether an epidemiological study should now be funded.”
We here at the Waverley Web have heard that some Waverley officers are already preparing to shoot the messenger, and are more than a little miffed that a bunch of laymen are revealing facts about the sewage treatment, and now water supply problems that the so-called “ experts” have ignored for many years.
The report’s Conclusions:
Also, evidence shows that drinking water pipes over 20 years old degrade internally over time through water friction, and due to low pH and low soil alkalinity, releasing free asbestos fibres into the drinking water supply(1) (2) (16).
Isn’t it about time everyone over there in the East of Waverley joined the Cranleigh Civic Society?
