Due to a public inquiry cock-up in January, yet another public inquiry will be held in April next year into a controversial Haslemere development.
These photos show the development site on Surrey Hills AONB. South Downs National Park and the National Trust Blackdown site are nearby.
A new access road is required to access the site, which will require the removal of this iconic avenue of trees over 20 years old, many of which are covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).
The inquiry into Waverley’s refusal to allow another 111 dwellings is in addition to the 50 dwellings already allowed at appeal on the Red Court site in Haslemere and is expected to cost yet more millions of pounds.
Redwood South West Limited won’t give a damn how much it spends because it will snaffle many more millions if it can persuade another Inspector to overturn the previous Inspector’s refusal.
But how much will Waverley have to pay to hire its barristers, solicitors, expert witnesses, and planners, all thanks to the childish actions of a government Inspector?
The question is? Will Waverley have any basis to ask for indemnification from the Planning Inspectorate who made the cock-up… As far as the residents are concerned, the cost is measured in stress, effort and money having to defend against the developer all over again when the Inspector’s grounds for refusing the appeal were so strong!
