Surrey records more crime.

Police recorded more robbery and theft offences in Surrey last year, new figures show.

It comes as the policing minister said too many town centres have been “decimated” by shoplifting, and communities have been “left shaken” by knife crime, snatch theft and robbery.

Home Office figures show that Surrey Police recorded 24,102 theft crimes in the year to June, up 6% from 22,707 the year before.

Similarly, robbery offences increased 4% from 484 in the year to June 2023 to 504 last year.
