Tis the Season to be Merry …

Tra-la, la, la!

la, la, la!

You may have noticed the Waverley Webbers are taking a break after a long, tiring, and eventful year.

Our Google-eyed equine friend fits our mood here perfectly – what a year 2023 turned out to be. Food Banks operate in one of the wealthiest boroughs in the country – water, water everywhere, and not a drop to drink or flush the toilet. Residents use bottled water to shower, and the shower at Thames Water gets golden handshakes to retire on foreign, less polluted shores!

We love consistency – and the Tories have been consistent throughout their miserable year in opposition – when their numbers were diminished at the Waverley Borough’s May election. Spectacular gains for Lib Dems at the 2023 Waverley and Guildford borough elections

The Conservative Group led by Cllr Peter Martin has consistently opposed almost every move made by the Rainbow administration led by Lib Dem Paul Follows.

MP’s Hunt and Richardson have been in competition throughout 2023 in who can post the most pictures of themselves, using every opportunity for a photo call, rocking up at the post office to open an envelope. Not that the rest of us have seen too many of those this year due to infrequent postal deliveries. One of our hospital appointment letters turned up a week after the scheduled appointment! Waste of paper, waste of delivery time, waste of NHS resources…

Do you remember when Our Jeremy wannabe MP for Godalming & Ash went out on a litter pick to impress us all? Now, despite the pressing affairs of state he’s at it again!!  As for Aunty Angie, she is so busy posting new pictures of herself saying, ‘Please, please look at me,’ she hasn’t had time to pop our Christmas Card in the post. Orm, perhaps like the others it hasn’t arrived yet?

There is nothing remotely hypocritical in Hunt’s latest PR wheeze and his real-world inaction.

Do you remember our MP Jeremy Hunt out litter picking in Waverley?

So there you have it, folks – another year has passed into the history books. What do we wish for our followers and ourselves? Good Health, Happiness, and Peace on Earth and a General Election.

  1. Some advice for the remaining Conservatives at Waverley:
“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt”

  2. At least council meetings should be a good bit shorter now with less Tory’s to standing up and repeat the party line on every topic
