The clip above shows that Waverley Borough Council’s leader was surprised it was a no-show at last week’s Great No Water debate.
Seriously, did he really expect Angela Richardson to show up?
Aunty Angie doesn’t show up anywhere unless there is a phalanx of photographers on hand to plaster her photograph over every media outlet she can find. As for Jeremy, he is far too busy preparing for his own public meetings at Surrey University with the Thames Water officials he has on speed dial.
Snubbing Waverley’s public meeting wasn’t clever. It was childish, and the borough’s residents will hopefully remember this slight.
Parliament will have my presence for many years to come promises Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt.

I dislike political snide comments. Jeremy Hunt is meeting Thames Water people and I hope that Paul Follows will attend it too. A public meeting with Waverley might be an outlet for complaints but the meeting with top Thames Water is far more likely to result in action to prevent the water cut offs in future.
Let us all hope that Paul Follows shows his true colours and rocks up to J Hunt’s shindig and shows a little more maturity than Hunt and Richardson. At least then he will reveal he is more interested in the concerns of borough residents than playing politics.
Paul Follows is genuinely interested in our local water, has invested time and supported our efforts to monitor river quality around Guildford, Waverley etc It’s been really encouraging to see volunteers signing up to help over the last year. Ohr combined knowledge will help people hold water companies like Thames to account.
Hasn’t the public meeting between the MPs and TW at the University of Surrey this coming Friday been well publicised? Its quite a short meeting though. I expect after the preamble there will be minimal time for questions. Can Paul put his questions to the MPs and TW then? He should be heard as a responsible local councillor surely.
