Using the toilet in Farnham may never be the same again!

Oh dear – what can the matter be? Not everyone likes Farnham’s new lavatory.

There has been some “modified rapture” about plans for a new toilet revamp on the Gostrey meadow.

Cllr White recently told a resident at the Farnham Town meeting who asked about the tendering process.

Saying: “Why does the block have to be so ugly?”

“We don’t want a white elephant… this could be a £500,000 project; it could be even more than that. At the moment, it’s not gone out to tender as that depends on the build system adopted. However, we want to make sure we put a building that is going to last. It will be a state-of-the-art convenience…”

“We worked on the basis of volume.”

“It will look beautiful,” said  Cllr Mauluka.

  1. It was Charles Borelli who played a leading role in 1909 to convert what was a Victorian rubbish dump into the beautiful Gostrey Meadow in the heart of Farnham.
Perhaps Farnham Town Councillors should be mindful in case the dump comes back to haunt them, courtesy of Thames Water.

  2. It looks like a cow shed perhaps they failed to read the local plan’s reference to design. The benefits of uncapped Parish Council tax is that Town Councillors can spend what they want. Hopefully they have an eye on the Town’s pension deficit.

    1. Interesting. Does the Town Council have a pension deficit? If so, do you think WBC may have one, too?

  3. This question needs independently audited accounts. Past auditors have expressed pensions as an issue the lack of transparency raises the red flag of problems ahead.

    1. Presumably, the problems just get transferred to others. Is it pass-the-buck time for the new unitary authorities?
