Our inbox has been groaning under the weight of e-mails from “disgusted” residents at the news that the Age Concern/Age UK Waverley’s branch had closed down – without notice.
The first many users heard of the closure of the service was a telephone answerphone message at the charity saying it was now “closed permanently.”
Numerous media reports in The Farnham Herald, Surrey Ad and Haslemere Herald have reported the constant onslaught in recent years against the charity which has helped many thousands of Waverley residents over 25 years. A researcher has revealed it was set up with £150,000 of the taxpayers money, but has suffered repeated cuts for the past decade.
After reducing its grants year on year to the charitable sector whilst trumpeting its support for the elderly – it has been slashing and burning the charitable and community sectors’ for years.
Why has AUKW closed? Because “Your Waverley” claimed the Charity’s finances were not in order. Well – we have read the accounts on line – audited by one of the borough’s most respected Accountancy firms – Roffe Swayne – and whom has repeatedly told Waverley Councillors – that all was in order, and had both Charity Commission and Company House approval.
IT IS ALMOST COMMON KNOWLEDGE (it certainly will be now) THAT IT WAS YOU WHO WROTE TO AGE UK ENGLAND TO PUT THE BOOT IN Waverley Officer “Omen” and you who prevented the transferral of some of its valuable services!
This from “Your Waverley” just found guilty of breaches of working practices which resulted in the loss of £200,000 of “our money” and who covered it up for two years to allow the 2015 local elections to go ahead! Until a whistleblower whistled and told us – “Your Voting Fodder” that it was “Your Bank” that spotted the fraud! Told a “select few” of your Conservative groups but “forgot” to tell the official opposition? What a bunch of hypocrites.
yes, the same Waverley Council that has just been found guilty for serious Breaches of the Data Protection act by spying on their employees personal data.
Has lied and cheated the general public – a Government Inspector – and others over its illegal actions over the Brightwells – East Street development in Farnham!
SHAME ON YOU WAVERLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL – AIDED AND ABETTED BY YOUR DUPLICITOUS OFFICER DAMIAN ROBERTS’ YOU SHOULD HOLD YOUR HEADS IN SHAME . YOU HAVE JUST MUGGED THE OLD AND THE VULNERABLE OF VITAL SEVICES – SOME OF WHICH THEY ARE NOW SEEKING IN GUILDFORD AND HORSHAM, IN WEST SUSSEX.
