One member of ‘Your Waverley’ had his collar felt a while back before being elected to serve the people of Farnham. Council Leader ‘Bobby’ Knowles’ friends in the force sought an ‘interview’ to put the frighteners on. So a knock on the door from the boys in blue is nothing new!

Of course, it helps if you are in the Police Federation, like ‘Your Waverley’s’ former leader Robert Knowless. According to some of our friendly Waverley plods it’s easier to pull in the odd favour when you are one of THEM! So the present Leader Julia Potts may not be quite so lucky?
I read about this in The Daily Telegraph a couple of weeks ago. It made me want to know what the man had said on-line, my thinking being along the line of “there’s always more to these things than meets the eye”. Actually then I forgot about it – but you’ve reminded me and so I’ve googled it. Assuming the accounts of the gentleman’s posts are accurate then it is gobsmacking that the any police officers should have consented to be dragged into a storm in a teacup. Could it happen here? Well, local politicians are self-absorbed enough to have lost contact with the real world, complacent, and resistant to any form of accountability. They’re also squabblesome and incapable of being well-mannered even to each other, though Conservative councillors tend to keep all that behind closed doors. No surprise there, they’d keep everything behind closed doors if they could. Which leaves us reliant on the good sense of Surrey Police. Your account of the Frosty response to Councillor Follows showed just how far removed from reality our Conservative Councillors are. You’ve said it before and I will endorse it – bring on the 2019 elections – it’s the only form of accountability they cannot avoid.
We have information from Waverley officers that a Farnham resident had ‘his collar felt’ by Surrey Police.In fact, he was not the only one – there have been several instances during the past four years where the police have been called upon by ‘Your Waverley’ to ‘have discussions’ with residents, who have been ‘a bit of a nuisance.’ Funny really when those same police officers are pulling people in for speeding three miles over the 40-mile limit and ignoring serious burglaries and assaults!
