2018… here we come!

So let’s all hope that Daft Local Plan becomes an acceptable not-so-daft Local Plan and the borough of Waverley finally gets some protection from speculative development, particularly on flood plains!

Yesterday’s  heavy  rains have already produced flood warnings on the River Wey in Farnham.   A considerable number of green fields and building sites, where homes are under construction,  are already under water and more deluges are forecast!

It might be sensible, as we enter 2018, for our so-called – ‘planners’ and its  statutory consultees  – The Environment Agency; Thames Water; and Surrey County Council – the lead flood authority, to pay a little more attention to the schemes that come before them. Schemes to which they seldom, if ever, raise any objection?  Perhaps they should stop stamping them…

NO OBJECTION! And, start looking at them properly?

Because flooding, will  become a major concern for future generations in a borough built on heavy Wealden clay!

May be, just may be 2018 will herald a new dawn for Tory controlled Waverley Borough Council – or may be not?
