There is no doubt that Cranleigh Councillor Mary Foryszewski is treated like a bit of a Pariah at “Your Waverley.” Funny really because she isn’t an Independent, a Liberal Democrat or a Residents’ Group – she’s a True Blue Tory!
However many times she thanks the officers for their “comprehensive reports,” thanks her Waverley borough council colleagues for, “listening to me,” excuses herself for daring to “seek an answer” or “an explanation” or dare we say it ….
opposes the wholesale dumping exercise of new housing that continues unabated in Cranleigh …no one listens to her… So why does she keep doing it…
Is it because she actually cares about the future of Cranleigh? or is she a bit of a Masochist?
Some years back, she was appointed Chairman of the Council’s Special `Interest Group to seek information views and local opinion on the future of the largest brownfield site in the borough at Dunsfold? She gauged opinions from a variety of local and national politicians on the future of the largest brownfield site in Waverley.
She produced the report and accompanying evidence – but at the time it came to the wrong conclusion …. so the Report was… DUMPED! Isn’t it time someone, somewhere in that festering pit that is “Your Waverley`” started listening to CRANLEIGH’S MARY. Because at the Extraordinary Meeting when “Your Waverley” signed off the Local Plan – the blueprint for the next 14 years’ development, once again she was shut up.
This, despite her being the only Cranleigh Councillor to rail against Cranleigh becoming the borough’s dumping ground for new housing…oh and by the way…
… ( we will ignore the fatuous and disingenuous protestations of Councillor Patricia Ellis – bemoaning Cranleigh’s fate, whilst having supported , taken part in, and encouraging all the wannabe developers during a series of secret meetings over many years to create Cranleigh New Town … She and her fellow Guildford Road councillors also voted to build a new industrial estate at Manfield Park … on the Green Belt... don’t worry folks it hasn’t gone away … just been delayed! Only one Councillor in the East voted against … Mary.
Why has it been delayed? Because we revealed the contents of the Confidential papers…so they are hanging on a bit hoping we will go away…which we won’t!
Back to the Local Plan … Councillor Foryszewski was given short shrift by The Mayor for exceeding her time (4 mins) – and he prevented her from coming back to comment any further.
So… if she cannot be heard – and remember Cranleigh’s other elected dynamic development duo Stewart and Jeannette Stennett – kept Shtumm, so wouldn’t it have ben fair to let Cranleigh’s one and only genuine lone voice – have her say?
SO IF “Your Waverley” DOESN’T INTEND LISTENING TO HER – FOR GOD’S SAKE CUT HER SENTENCE FOR GOOD BEHAVIOUR AND LET HE GET ON WITH HER KNITTING?
