The Berkeley Bunnies are all set to begin burrowing?

The rape of the Cranleigh countryside continues apace?

With Crest Nicholson revving up its  diggers to get onto Horsham Road (149 homes) Cala – or is it a  Chinese buyer? now given the final all-clear   to build 125 homes  on Amlets Park, in Amlets Lane – now its Berkeley Homes turn to rev up  the engines to get into Knowle Lane at the back of Cranleigh’s Stocklund Square.

The National house builder is seeking detailed permission to begin the development granted at Appeal for 55 Executive houses in Phase 1 of its 425 dwelling masterplan. This  will see the destruction of a huge swathe of countryside developed  across the village in the East of the borough that has been dubbed by “your Waverley” as “Poor old Cranleigh.”

Just Phase 1 of the development is going forward for detailed planning permission – The “High End” development of large properties. Phase two, three and four consists of mainly  “affordable homes.” WW wonders – who might be building those?

Are three storey houses  now the order of the day in the rural village of Cranleigh? And… will there be traffic lights in Cranleigh High Street?
